MOTION COMPUTING : C5 MOBILE CLINICAL ASSISTANT

Motion Computing® developed the C5 Mobile Clinical Assistant to bring accurate patient data input and retrieval to the point of care in a hospital or other clinical setting. Committed to ergonomic excellence, the company chose a thermoplastic silicone vulcanizate (TPSiV™ – pronounced ‘tip-siv') elastomer from Multibase USA to cover the entire back of the slate-form-factor device.
This material provides a secure, silky feel, while it helps insulate the user from internally generated heat. The durability of its good looks are enhanced by the silicone vulcanizate’s chemical resistance to common disinfecting solvents, by its UV resistance to harsh fluorescent light, and by its resistance to the abrasion that is endemic to hand-held operation.
The soft surface layer forms an excellent bond with its polycarbonate substrate, helping seal the interior against moisture and dust. And the multiple benefits contributed by the TPSiV™ are achieved through conventional overmolding during the manufacture of the components for the computer’s case. The selected grade is one of a range of TPSiV™ materials that have been developed by Multibase specifically for use in personal electronic devices.
Multibase opens manufacturing facility in Zhangjiagang, China !

As a leading global provider of customized thermoplastic solutions, Multibase announced opening of its manufacturing and development facility in Zhangjiagang on May 27th, 2010. Multibase Zhangjiagang is the fourth manufacturing base for Multibase, joining facilities in France, USA and India.
"Our decision to invest in a new manufacturing and development facility in China is a reflection of the rapid growth of China¡®s economy in the past years as well as a demonstration of our confidence its ability to continue to flourish as the world economy recovers from the recent downturn," said Bernard Simon, the CEO of Multibase.
Mainland China's Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) market continues to expand and diversify rapidly based on the country's significant positions in the production of many of the key products manufactured with TPE parts, such as cars, appliances, sporting goods, and power tools. It is already the largest and fastest growing economy for TPEs in the world with the primary driver being the automotive segment, a priority segment for Multibase globally.
Multibase has already been providing thermoplastic solutions to the China market for over 20 years. With the opening of its facility in Zhangjiagang, Multibase has the capabilities, skills and infrastructure to develop, and deliver, "fit for purpose" solutions for the needs of China-based customers.
"Our investment in China is guided by two important factors -- our global mission to unleash our innovation to benefit everyone, everywhere, and our commitment to support local economic growth and sustainable development," said Jeremy Burks, Greater China President. "We are confident that Multibase Zhangjiagang, like other investments that Dow Corning has made in China, will be a great success."
With our unique portfolio of thermoplastics and silicone solutions, Multibase offers an exceptional potential for value creation in the thermoplastic industry.
Philips relies on micro-talc Masterbatch for the New Senseo

In order to achieve design and technical shapes, Philips Consumer Lifestyle based in the Netherlands chooses micro-talc Masterbatch.
Focused on Health and Well-Being, Philips wanted for its new Senseo® Quadrante coffee machine, a material combining aesthetics and high performances properties.
Koby Environmental chooses Multibase Siloxane Masterbatch

Koby Environmental chooses siloxane lubricant from Multibase to reduce friction in its locking plugs for groundwater monitoring wells.
This ultra-high-molecular-weight additive reduces the force
required to adjust a threaded wing-nut in glass-filled nylon device.
Koby Environmental, Inc., manufactures a line of Torquer® locking plugs to secure access pipes in groundwater monitoring wells. The plugs are made in a variety of sizes to accommodate pipe diameters from one-half inch to eight inches.
The devices are injection molded from glass-filled nylon to provide sufficient stiffness in operation, particularly for the larger sizes. Without lubrication, friction from nylon-to-nylon contact in the design would make it extremely difficult to turn the wing-nut that creates the plug’s seal.
After exploring alternatives during development, Koby now adds 2% by weight of a Dow Corning® Siloxane Masterbatch from Multibase, Inc., to reduce the coefficient of friction at the surface of the parts.
